About Music Courses
What courses do you provide?
Our core course is pop piano improvisation (using P.B.E.S™ Methodology). We also conduct classes for other musical instruments.
How long is the course?
The entire P.B.E.S™ course duration is 2 years for Pop Piano Improvisation, subject to the individual student's background and learning ability. Beginners may take a little longer, while students who already have a strong piano background (eg ABRSM Grade 8) may be able to complete the course in a shorter period of time.
What do you mean by Pop Piano Improvisation?
The easiest demonstration of pop piano improvisation is probably a lounge pianist. He plays familiar popular tunes with embellishments. Our course helps a student to use the basic core structure of a song and play it in a unique individual manner.
I have some previous background. Where should I start? Level 1 or Level 2 of P.B.E.S™?
If you are able to comfortably sight read, understand and play basic chords, and can coordinate both hands reasonably well, you can begin at Level 2. If not, we would suggest starting at Level 1 first, to ensure your basics are all up to scratch.
I have no music background. Am I able to join PPM?
Certainly! We believe anyone can play the piano, no matter what your background. We designed the beginner level under the assumption that a student has no previous background in music or piano. Topics in this level will help you gain all the necessary skills to play almost any simple song.
Can I learn the songs I like?
Of course, bearing in mind that it will depend on your ability. If you are just starting out, the instructor will most likely start you off with some really easy songs. When you improve, the songs you get will gradually become more interesting and also more difficult.
How old and how young do you accept?
We do not really have an age limit or minimum age requirement. Everyone from all walks of life can register as a student.
Will I get to learn how to read notes?
Of course! Sight reading is an important part of your learning. With it, you gain the ability to play almost any song you can find (most music books use standard music notation), even if you have never heard it before!
